My first day at the office

Today I joined the team at Summit's offices, which is a house converions on a peice of land near the school where the church meet. Summit is a growing church with around 400 regular attendees now, having practially doubled in the last two to three years. I was able to mee some of the church staff which includes a Lead Pastor, Pastor of Administration & Community Care, Pastor of Student Ministries, Pastor of Children's Ministries, Pastor of Outreach & Integration, Pastor of Worship & Creative Arts and a Leader of Summit Kidz (Ministry for under 10's).

I'm working with Matt Campbell who is Pastor of Outreach and Integration. Other than welome and orientation, the main thing for my involvement on my first day was to attend a meeting over lunch to discuss a survey on Evangelism which is being prepared to go out to the congregation. It's a great blessing to be around some people with a real heart to nurture and support the congregation in sharing their faith, who also bring many skills from their professional backgrounds in business and consumer surveying. I can see this makes for a concise and effective survey, the results of which will give a clear picture of current trends, along with gaps and areas for potential growth in the future. As I'm more of an observer than a contributor, I once again found myself being able to sample lots of food. We were in an all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurant where you can keep ordering and ordering lots of intersting little plates of food for a rediculously small amount of $s, with the only condition being that you must clear your plates or have to pay full price. No problem with Mike around, and I can safely say I ensured we got great value too.
